Sam Hayman signs on the dotted line
Pontypridd RFC are delighted to announce that Sam Hayman has signed for the club on a permanent basis from Pencoed RFC.
The flying winger, who has only just turned 19 has already made one appearance for Ponty – away at RGC at the back end of last season on permit from Pencoed.
The former Ospreys trainee will now link up with the club ahead of the 2022-23 season and said: “I’m really happy to be signing for Pontypridd next season – a club with an amazing history and fantastic support.”
Looking forward to working with Sam at the club, Ponty backs coach Paul Matthews said: “Sam was recommended to us by my colleague at work who was coaching Pencoed RFC last year, someone he thought had the talent to step up into the premiership. He was Pencoed RFC’s most promising player last year and top try scorer (14), playing his first year of senior rugby and still only 19. He has represented the Ospreys at age grade level previously. Sam has shown an excellent attitude in training and has been rewarded for his efforts. He is lightening quick, powerful and beats defenders with a sharp side step. We are looking forward to nurturing another young talent who can compete for a back three position.”
Welcome to Pontypridd permanently, Sam!
