Tournament Preview – Sardis 7’s this weekend
The Sardis 7s is nearly upon us – the 7’s tournament is taking place over three consecutive days at Sardis Road and it all kicks off tomorrow evening Friday 5th August. The weekend-long festival of rugby continues on Saturday before concluding Sunday 7th August. Please note that supporter access is via the clubhouse end of the ground only as the Pwllgwaun end remains closed.
The schedule is as follows –
The Youth leg of the tournament, sponsored by Emanuel Jones Chartered Surveyors, will get the action underway on Friday 5th August. Gates open at 5:00pm with the first match starting at 6:00pm.
The clubs competing in the Youth Tournament are –

- Maesteg Celtic RFC
- Brecon RFC
- Pontyclun RFC
- Rhydyfelin RFC
Then on Saturday 6th August it’s the Seniors Tournament, which is sponsored by Phil Page Skip Hire. Gates open 11:00am and the first match kicks off at 12noon.

- Porth Panthers 7s
- Cilfynydd RFC

Finally, to finish off the weekend’s entertainment on Sunday 7th of August it’s the U13’s and U12’s 7s Tournaments – sponsored by Pontypridd Print Solutions. It’s an early start and the U13’s sides get the day’s play underway, gates open 8:30am with the first match starting at 9:30am.

This will be followed by the U12’s leg of the tournament, the first match kicks off at 12:30pm and the teams competing are –

There will be lots of activities going on over the duration of the weekend as well as different food outlets being present in the ground, and of course the bars at Sardis Road will be well stocked up.
